Leda Athanasopoulou is a Greek designer whose practise dissolves the traditional distinctions between architecture, interior, furniture and jewellery design. Her multi-disciplinary approach draws on rigorous research, spanning influences and eras to alight on classic and transcendental forms that balance practicality and freedom. Her spatial compositions are a process of synthesis and subtraction, layering reclaimed materials, bespoke designs, and contemporary elements.
Greece, and the Aegean in particular, remain the core influence behind her practice: the preservation of Greek heritage, the economy of spontaneous architecture, and the use of local craftsmanship shaped by the surrounding materials and landscapes. A timeless simplicity that serves an authentic quality of living.
Born in 1991 and raised in Thessaloniki, Greece, Leda completed a first degree in business in Cass Business School, London and ESCP, Paris followed by a design degree from Istituto Europeo di Design, Milan. She designed her first one-off pieces of furniture in 2011 and her jewellery line, The Eye Ring, a year later. Her designs have a universal sensibility honed during her practice with Muriel Brandolini in New York, as well as her restoration and refurbishment projects in London, Athens, and the Greek islands.
